I founded Performance & Fitness Solutions in 2000. At the time I was the Fitness Director at Atlanta’s Concourse Athletic Club. I believed then and now in a practical approach to the many dimensions that the fitness industry has to offer. With over a decade of experience, I set out to apply realistic, simple, and effective foundations to fitness with methods that make sense. Whether it be an individual’s fitness goals, a coaches goals for his or her team, or a gym owners’ idea for how his or her gym should look and feel, the same approach applies. No gimmicks or quick fixes, no unrealistic goals or promises. 5 years later PFS still stands on the same ground--the best performance and fitness solutions possible by whatever means necessary. I know that no one method can be the best for every application, and with a broad spectrum of experience including rehabilitation, body building, power training, functional training, self myofascial release, (to name a few methods I use), I use a multi-method approach to be powerfully effective.
PFS uses a lot of the principles of functional training, which means multiple joint exercises with plenty of core and power emphasis. This powerful methodology gets the most done in the shortest amount of time. The days of 2 hour grind it out workout sessions are quickly coming to and end. High quality, short bout sessions are the most effective way to get results. Some of the best strength and conditioning people in the industry have been proving this for years.
I don’t feel the need to compartmentalize fitness and claim expertise at training for one sport, situation, or issue. I feel it is every fitness professional’s responsibility to educate his or her self as to how the body works and responds to what we put it through, and how to prescribe the best programming available for a given situation. Every client and athlete gets to experience a wide variety of modalities including speed, agility, power, balance, and cardiovascular training. All of these components can be applied at varying levels of difficulty and are crucial to keeping everyone--from elite athletes to grandparents--moving much more effectively and injury free. I truly believe that everyone can smash any goals they might have, if they just go about it the right way.
Thank you for choosing PFS,
Steve Riley
